Monday, May 18th:

MHMeyer MD blogging this time.  A busy day today. We worked at St Joseph's Hospital in Moshi. Did a proximal tibial osteotomy for valgus deformity after a fracture, a malunited supracondylar fracture, a non union of a both bone leg fracture, and an acute shoulder dislocation.  Dr Phiipo, a third year resident at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center,  managed all the logistics and the day went smoothly.  The hospital day ended with photos  of Mount Kilimanjaro taken from the fourth floor balcony of the hospital.  We all foundered at the Ten 2 Ten restaurant in Moshi and are ready for bed.  The crew blends well under Gayle's guidance.  Freeman and  Julius keep us entertained during travels and mealtime. After a group photo at the restaurant Freeman remarked " The photo is a little dark, you can only see the Msungus (white folks)".  We told him to smile and show his great white smile. As always the Tanzanian people are great hosts and we try to be good guests.
