A Story from Hope Ministries Volunteer, Olivia
Today we had a very busy day in the operating room. Dr. Sutton and Dr. Inyasi performed another amazing and much needed total knee replacement.
I was given the opportunity to scrub into the operating room today. I was able to to assist Dr. Sutton on this procedure. I am so thrilled and grateful to have had this opportunity to scrub in today. Not many nursing students get the chance to scrub into the operating room, especially for such a difficult surgery.
The surgery turned out to be very successful. Dr. Sutton is an incredible teacher. He not only performed this difficult surgery effortlessly, but he also took the time to teach all the Tanzanian doctors so they could perform the same surgical techniques even after Dr. Sutton leaves.
My experience with Hope Ministries has allowed me to witness so many medical cases, meet amazing medical personal and learn so many new things than I could have ever imagined.
