I am very happy to share some great news that I received this last weekend. \u00a0This shows what a lasting impact that Hope Ministries is making in the lives of the Tanzania. \u00a0This is the thank-you I received from the ENT physician that we worked with last May:<\/p>\n

DISABLING HEARING LOSS IN CHILDREN IS ALARMING<\/strong><\/p>\n

A person who is not able to hear as well as someone with normal hearing (hearing thresholds of 25 dB or better in both ears) \u2013 is said to have hearing loss. Hearing loss may be mild, moderate, severe or profound. It can affect one ear or both ears, and leads to difficulty in hearing conversational speech or loud sounds.<\/p>\n

Over 5% of the world\u2019s population \u2013 360 million people \u2013 have disabling hearing loss (328 million adults and 32 million children).<\/p>\n

Although hearing loss in children can be both due to acquired or congenital (inborn) causes, here at Bugando Medical Centre majority of the children (2 out of 3 with hearing problems)\u00a0 attending our clinics have disabling hearing impairment from preventable<\/strong> causes. In our Centre the leading causes are<\/p>\n
