Sunday, July 11

Today we had the pleasure of sleeping in… until 8am. It was a wonderful way to start the morning. I’ve come to realize that its the little things in life that can create so much joy. The contagious smiles and warm welcomes of the people, the hugs that the children give, and the beautiful scenery that surrounds us are just some of the many examples.

After a wonderful night of sleep and an amazing breakfast, we attended Arusha Community Church. This is an international, interdenominational congregation. It included a well-written sermon, beautifully sung hymns (some of them needed some clapping), and a warm welcome from the congregation. It was wonderful to witness people from all over coming together worship our Lord. It made my heart happy and put a smile on my face. I’m sure it even put a smile on the Jesus’s face as well.

We then went to the City Park to eat our lunch after the church service was finished. While we ended up waiting over a hour for our meal, let me tell you, this was one of the best foods I’ve ever had. I think the team could agree with me on that one. This place had chicken, beef, and fish that was freshly cooked. Highly recommended!

After our meal at the City Park, we went to the Tanzanian Market, or as Gayle calls it the “Tanzanian Walmart.” The only difference is: its not a Walmart. This was the busiest, fullest market I have ever seen. The overwhelming feeling as you step into the market is something I will never forget. There was so many fruits, food, clothes, and other items just waiting to be sold. You could hear people yelling “Jambo” across the streets to us. It was definitely an experience. All of this to say, I think this has made me grateful for the things I have at home. I think the rest of the team can agree with me on that. We are so very blessed and we take so many things for granted. Its the little things here in Tanzania that make me take a step back and put a smile on my face. I can see God work through each person on the team to bless other people. His presence is here in this place and at work. Thank you for all your prayers and support!

In Him,

Morgan
