Today started off bright and early getting ready for our flight to Mwanza. We arrived in Mwanza, after an hour flight, at about noon. When first arriving here we were taken back by the beauty of Lake Victoria, the second largest lake in the world. We have been warned not to swim in it due to worms that cause painful and itchy rashes (YIKES). The city is called “Rock City” due to the amount of large rocks that look like they were purposely placed in spots (they were not).
We arrived at the Yun Long Hotel and have gotten our fair share of chinese food thus far! Mark went to the hospital to do a surgery today, while the rest of us had a much needed relax day. Once Mark finished the surgery we were all able to sit, chat, and enjoy the view.
We have also found there is a LARGE number of lizards and some snakes (harmless ones) here. Tonight while eating dinner we found a lizard attack a cockroach the size of a small dog. Maybe that is an exaggeration, but it sure seemed like that big at the time! I also tried beating Julius in pool, but I didn’t even come close.
We are anxiously awaiting continuing our hard work tomorrow at Bugando a 1,000 bed hospital. The other half of the group will be going to an orphanage tomorrow and start on our teaching projects. We are ready to keep doing God’s work this week!
