Greetings from Tanzania!
Today was an “easy” day. We woke up early this morning to hop on a small propeller air plane to travel from Arusha to Mwanza. We landed and headed straight to Fonilisco children’s home. To say we were greeted with open arms would be a huge understatement. As soon as we drove up and got out of the car the children were shaking our hands saying “karibu” (Welcome). The head of the home was ecstatic to have us and said we could think of it as our second home.
After introductions at the home we went to our lodging to have lunch and a little R&R. Mwanza is a city situated right on the shores of Lake Victoria, which is the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the world. Our hotel is right on the shores of this vast lake. As I am writing this I am enjoying the sounds of the waves and watching birds swoop down to try and catch their lunch. I am so in awe of the beauty of this place. I have always thought that God’s best creation is nature, and he took his time with Africa. We are about to sit down and have dinner with the doctors that we will be working with at Bugando Hospital this week.
With love from Tanzania,
