Surgical Spine Story from Mama Gayle
Praise God for our doctors’ strength and patience as we performed a delicate spine surgery that took us four and a half hours. The room was filled with residents, medical, radiology and nursing students. They were present throughout the entire surgery learning from both Dr. Isidor and Dr Steve.
I was able to explain to the anesthesiologists how incredibly important it was that this patient remain sedated the entire surgery to help prevent him from any movement in this intricate surgery. Dr. Steve was so patient as he educated all the staff and students. Dr. Isidor walked away remarking on how much he learned as a provider in this surgery alone. Teaching leaves a permanent impact in health care in Tanzania. Our main objective is always teaching.
